In your opinion, what is love.
|
Well, I'm pretty glad that you didn't rule out references to movies, because my favorite definition of love...other than the Biblical one....is the one found in the movie Wedding Crashers. Clair (Rachel McAdams) asks John (Owen Wilson) what he thinks love is during the reception after her sister's wedding, and this is his reply: "Love is your soul's recognition of it's counterpoint in another." I think that really hits the nail on the head for romantic love. I think to truely really love someone you have to match inside and out, but I don't think that is the end of it.
Love is a lot of give and take, and probably more give than take. You have to give time, patience, and forgiveness. Love is about acceptance. Love is about being real. When you love someone, it doesn't mean you overlook someone's faults. It means acceptance and forgiveness. It means working past the annoyances, even if it takes an argument or two. Love is walking together, looking in the same direction, and instead at each other, looking out for each other. Love is about being a best friend, but not an only friend. Love is about trust, whether together or apart, not only giving it, but keeping it once it's been given to you. (Prepares to break the set rules for a sentence) "Perfect love drives out all fear." Love is laughter: laughing at yourself, laughing together, laughing at life. (Prepares to break rules once again) "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." When you love someone, it's not because of what they do, what they wear, how much money they make, the color of their eyes, or the way they talk to you. When you love someone, it's because of who they are, and who you are when you're with them. Love is best when reciprocated, and most painful when it's not. Love is absolutely amazing, but not always easy. Love takes work.
So...now...tell me what YOU think.
Ky.
